Announcement on 31st of July

The government announced the delay in offering close contact services such as treatments on the face until the 15th of August at the earliest. This is obviously a setback to us and other beauty businesses who are eager to get back up and running. We will be contacting our clients to inform them of this decision and we will keep you all posted on any further updates.

Update – Monday 11th May 2020

It has been announced by the government that we cannot open our salon doors until the 4th of July at the very earliest. We are now holding a waiting list of clients wanting to book appointments. We feel it is only fair that clients who had appointments booked in from March who we had to cancel due to the lockdown will take priority. We appreciate the messages of love and support from our clients during this difficult period. We are a dedicated team and we will do everything we can to try and accommodate you.

Hello and welcome to our new page.

We recognise that not everyone uses social media, so we’ve added this page to our website in order to provide you with updates on Oracle Hair and Beauty.

Due to government guidelines, we had to close the salon on the 23rd of March, and it was announced on the 16th April that the UK is on lockdown for another three weeks at least. Unfortunately, we really don’t know when we will be able to open our doors again, but we hope to see you all again soon!

We have been in contact with most of our clients, either by phone, text or email, to provisionally book in appointments from the beginning of June. A lot of you have already been in touch asking us to reschedule your appointment, and June is booking up quickly. If you need to get in touch, please feel free to email us at info@oraclehairandbeauty.co.uk or you can drop us a note on our contact page. If you do use social media, be to sure to follow us for updates!

*Please note that all appointments booked for June and beyond (including on-line bookings) are provisional and are subject to change in accordance with government guidelines*

To colour or not to colour… That is the question!

We’ve had a number of enquiries from clients about colouring their hair whilst on lockdown and asking for our advice. Yes, we know how frustrating it is to have roots and those sparkling greys on show, but let’s face it… We aren’t going anywhere, are we?

In all seriousness, if you are a client who has their hair coloured on a regular basis, or you hate any grey hair showing, it is frustrating. And yes, there are people out there who are still going to work and want to look their best!

As professional hairstylists, we cannot recommend what home hair colourant product or shade to use. There is a science to hair colouring and you need to have the experience and expertise to get good results without compromising the condition of the hair. Home hair colour can be unpredictable; don’t be fooled by the beautiful picture on the box!

It is your hair of course, so if you are tempted to reach for the box dye, make sure you read the instructions before going ahead. If you are looking for something semi-permanent, then check the label and contents before you buy.

A true semi-permanent hair colour lasts between 6-8 shampoos and IS NOT mixed with another product. If you buy a product that you have to mix with another product, then be aware that this will last much longer in the hair, and WILL NOT fully wash out. You cannot lighten hair with semi-permanent colours, nor can these products cover grey.

If you want to play around with fashion colours, then most of these need to be applied on pre-lightened bases, which tend to be more porous. Again, these can be unpredictable with regards to how long they will last. Remember, if you apply any type of hair colour, your patch test with us will become invalid and you will require another patch test 48 hours before we can apply any professional colour. You may also end up having to have a colour correction service, which will cost you more money.

Hair Advice

Whilst you’re in lock down, it’s a great time to look after your hair and maybe grow it. Consider applying regular conditioning treatments and use good professional products. You may want to holdoff using heated appliances for a while!

If you want some individual haircare advice, then drop us an email with your enquiry and we will do our best to answer your questions!

We are all so looking forward to getting back to work and we really miss all of our clients. In the meantime, please support our NHS and key workers by staying home and staying safe.

#StayHomeStaySafe

Much love,

Team Oracle x
